Hillsborough, Tampa, Fl. 4/21/2005--WADEBOGGS-- Wade Boggs, has been elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and will be inducted July 21, 2005. He is a 12-time All-Star, ending his 18-year (1982-99) major league career with 3,010 hits, 1,513 runs, 578 doubles, 61 triples, 118 home runs, 1,014 runs batted in, a .328 batting average and a .415 OBP. In his 2,432 career games. He played with the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. On August 7, 1999, he became the 23rd member of the 3,000 hit club when he hit a home run off of Cleveland's Chris Haney at Tropicana Field, the first player to reach that milestone with a home run.
